We have discovered something great in Hermosa Beach, CA:
there is the MOST amazing and affordable French restaurant run by real live French people! Cozy place, comfortable tables, lovely French countryside ambience.
Super friendly service and amazing food to boot! My spouse and I ventured to Hermosa last night to discover some new eatery. We found a winner!
We loved the amazing Brie/apple/walnut appetizer crêpe!!! WOW! WOW! WOW!

So anyway, I want to write about the food a bit. Frankly, I am a huge advocate of cooking with lots of cheese, butter, and cream. So this place really hit the spot for me. I was so right to order an appetizer. We ordered a Brie/apple-cinnamon crêpe. It was really excellent. I might even say that is the best crêpe I have had in years. Wow. There was plenty of soft, warm Brie, and the apple was perfectly sweet. The hint of cinnamon made us smile.
The entrèes were delicious. I ordered Quiche Lorraine, and my spouse ordered chicken Ratatouille with potatoes Au Gratin. Both very good choices. Mine was literally the very best quiche I have ever consumed dans mon vie. (I don't really know French.) Anyway, the Quiche was beautiful, and the heart slice reminded me of a Spanish tortilla - whipped eggs, butter, cheese, etc. All I can say about the dish is "wow". They threw some delicious baby pickles on the side - tres chique. The side salad was the only mediocre thing - it was just romaine lettuce with mild dijon mustard. (yawn!) My wife's chicken Ratatouille was very lovely and looked even better than the dish in the recent Disney film.
Visiting this restaurant made me want to take the direct redeye from LAX to Paris this weekend. Too bad I'm going to HONOLULU instead! I will be reporting on food from Hawaii too.
